Path To Employment

The Path to Employment Program helps prepare immigrants and refugees to search for jobs. The program assists with services that include: teaching computer basic skills for job search, resume writing, and one-on-one interview preparation. MRC provides comprehensive services and resources to help make informed decisions about a career as well as to help facilitate a successful transition into the workforce. This program is for low-income residents in West-Springfield and funded by Town of West Springfield CDBG Grant.

VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON CLASSES

ABOUT THIS COURSE:
The course consists of 12 classes, each 30 minutes long. Each group meets four times for 2 hours (three classes per zoom meeting). This course includes lessons, hands-on assignments, discussion, and supplementary links. Offered on a monthly basis, eight times per year.

ELIGIBILITY:
This course is funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to provide benefits to low- and moderate-income households living in West Springfield.

LANGUAGE:
English, Russian. There are bilingual (Russian/English) and English only sessions available. Please indicate upon registration your language preference.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course covers job search fundamentals such as web-based resources for resume and cover letter creation, online-based job search, social networking as a career-building tool, and is taught by a skilled bilingual instructor. The course will help participants with resumes, cover letters, and job interview preparation. Along with learning job search skills, participants will be able to practice using employment related vocabulary and will receive essential information about employment including dress codes, communication skills, and employment benefits. Our bilingual staff will be available for individual job interview preparation sessions.

After registration, you will receive a zoom link that you can use for the entire course. If you are unable to attend some of the classes within one single course period, you can make up for those classes at any of the next courses at your convenience.
