Since its beginning in 2014, MRC has provided services to more than 2500 non-English speakers in Hampden and surrounding counties. In addition to private donations, MRC also receives funding from state and local grants to run and manage community programs.
The MRC provides a support network for refugees, immigrants, and their families to empower them to participate fully in the community. The MRC also provides human service agencies with the opportunity to become more familiar with newcomers and be able to provide support and information about their services to newcomers and their families.
Diversity
The Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) contributes to the richness, diversity, and economic prosperity of our community by meeting refugee and immigrant needs and provides them with essential tools and information to successfully reside in this country.
Opportunities
The MRC is helping more than three hundred active clients annually from around the world and provides ongoing assistance and support. Our programs are designed to educate and increase employment opportunities for immigrants.
Outreach
The MRC participates in various community events with local schools, churches and other organizations to provide civic education to recent immigrants encouraging their participation in schooling and other community activities.
Outreach to the community is one of our key priorities. The MRC reaches out to the community in a variety of ways to provide information about immigrants and refugees in Western Massachusetts:
- Provide sessions for community groups about immigrants in Massachusetts
- Provide and attend fairs, cultural festivals, and community events to talk about the MRC and about immigrant and refugee communities.
- Work with local schools and colleges to connect them with local immigrants and help them understand the experiences of immigrants and refugees in Massachusetts.
