The MRC provides support and promotes cultural education to maintain the cultural identity and encourage immigrant and refugee participation in the local community events. The MRC utilizes cultural heritage and skills from original countries to promote mental health and wellness. The MRC provides annual cultural events and it observes several traditional celebrations.
Cultural Orientation
Cultural orientation is where refugees learn the basics about life in America. Everything from emergency services, to transportation and school are covered so that refugees can begin to operate in the American society.

Kalinka
Usually held on the Third Saturday of June
Kalinka feature music performances by well-known local Russian and American musicians, art, and of course great Slavic food. The event strives to bring together the Slavic population of Western New England as well as those who are interested in the richness of Slavic culture. Admission is free and open to everyone.

Slavic Bazar
Usually held on the First or Second Saturday of March
This celebration is devoted to International Women’s Day. Celebrated on March 8 every year, International Women’s Day is a day dedicated to honoring the achievements of women throughout history and all across the globe, and is typically a day for women from all different backgrounds and cultures to band together to fight for gender parity and women’s rights. Admission is free and open to everyone.

To support cultural heritage and identity of the one of the biggest populations in Western Massachusetts, the MRC offers a wide range of Russian educational opportunities for both Adults and Children as well as for those interested in learning the Russian language.

Russian Language classes for Adults offer three levels of Listening/Speaking, Reading/Writing and Advanced Communication. Enrollment is open year-round.
